She was born to Kosovo Albanian parents Anesa Rexha and Dukagjin Lipa. By virtue of her maternal grandmother, she is of Bosnian origin. Her ancestors are also traced back to Peja, the Kosovo cities of Peja. Two of Lipa's grandfathers were historians. The siblings of Lipa are Rina and Gjin. Lipa's musical influences came from her father, who is the singer-guitarist of the Kosovan the rock group Oda. Her musical influences were derived from her father's music that included his compositions as well as songs like David Bowie Bob Dylan Radiohead Stereophonics Stereophonics.
